That was in large part due to what the basketball world was calling "the greatest recruiting class of all time" coming to Ann Arbor. Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson and Jimmy King eventually took over all 5 starting spots for the Wolverines and finished the regular season 20 8. That was good enough for a #6 seed in the Southeast
