Chrysanthemum Matchsticks Onoclea In early-to-mid May in NCWe have been thrilled by the performance of this fascinating hardy garden mum which makes a very compact 2' tall x 3' wide clump for us. We see a first round of flowering on Chrysanthemum 'Matchsticks' in early July when the flowers are yellow, followed by a second flowering in early October. When cool night temperatures arrive, the red petal tips begin to show why the plant was named matchsticks quite striking pun intended.
