The huge magenta flowers in May/June are followed by red fruits

OT005: Mammillaria heyderi v. meiacantha COLD HARDY CACTUS Yucca Fergusen thinks this is oneThe little nipple cactus is the hardiest Mammillaria species from central New Mexico to the Colorado border. Our current offering is from Colfax County, NM. The picture of a plant in the wild (with red fruit) is the related species heyderi. Flat, single spherical plants with a crown of light pink flowers in May. Plants grow to 4 inches high and 6 inches in diameter. 3 year old plants sold in 2. 5 inch pot (pictured). Wonderful on a windowsill too!
