Visitors to the 1991 Hosta Convention in Raleigh were amazed at this seedling in the garden of Tony Sears of Apex (the guy with the 2-mile railroad track in his garden)

It is similar but larger and hardier than Salvia 'Waverly' and has been perennial to 8 degrees F in our trials

yellow inside and flecked with cinnamon speckles and an orange/yellow outside

grey-green leaves outright

Habranthus robustus Pink Splendor North Carolina Native Plants Visitors to the 1991 HostaHabranthus 'Pink Splendor' is a 2022 Plant Delights JLBG introduction of a John Fellers rain lily, that we selected and named after John's death. This seemingly sterile form of the South American (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay) Habranthus robustus produces huge 4" wide, rich pink flowers atop 9" tall stalks, starting for us in late June, and recurring through September within 2 3 days after each rainstorm.
