Being a fixed cheek bit it is especially useful for horses that are unsure of the bit as it doesn't move around much in the mouth. The full cheek also helps with turning by applying pressure to the horses cheeks. The keys on the mouthpiece encourage the horse to accept the bit and play to encourage salivation and softness.
