Native to the region where the Carolinas intersect with Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama, Trillium vaseyi is found in moist, rich woodlands, especially near streams. Although Trillium vaseyi was originally thought to be a large flowered form of Trillium erectum, it has been determined to be quite distinct with a sweeter fragrance, later flowering time,
