of a very different feather

but I thought the little oil painting of two boaters on it too charming to leave behind

Red Shoe Lacquered Papier Mache Snuff Box Humpty dumpty Maybe it held cheeseI've bought and sold a few lacquered papier mache snuff boxes, shoe shaped and otherwise, but I've never seen a red one, with a heel to boot, making one think of Dorothy clicking her heels to get back home. Just right. 3 1 8 l x 1 w x 1 1 4 t and in very good structural condition. with some loss to the red lacquer as evident, all to good in my opinion, as it has travelled long and far. Early mid 19th c. I believe.
