Another Sweet Old Carved Whimsy, Three Balls in Three Cages vintage knife 1916-18 art school drawings byThis is one of three carved whimsies today, and one of two of them found in Maine. What makes this one unusual is the two platforms carved into the larger "cage," giving each ball its own sort of room. (A place for everything and everything in its place and this one keeps calling to mind 'peas in a pod,' too.) Nice too how each side of those platforms, and top and bottom of the whimsy too, were carved in, making concave curves. Sweet, and one
