I must say I find this unusual old pair of German cutout wooden figures quite compelling

with lots of veins in the marble showing on the apricot

thinking about the powder and air inside having been trapped there together for many many years with no release

Jesus on Cross Encrusted in Barnacles! Liggett group in terrific conditionI have no idea the story behind this one, or how it came to have barnacles all over it, but I'm pretty happy that it exists! Jesus and his cross seem to be made of ceramic material or perhaps some sort of concrete (it's not especially heavy though), which I'd have to think was immersed in the sea for some time such that these barnacles would grow all over it. And at some point in the process it was painted gold, too, which is most pronounced on his
