and I must admit I am wary of taken more than a few pieces apart for fear of not being able to put it back together

I just love the look of these mini billiard balls (I've seen these in a couple sizes

but at the top of the Department Store (featured on three of them) is the year 1908

Later 19th c. I believe, and large enough to occupy me at least for quite a while! The blocks fit together in two layers in their custom handmade box, perhaps missing one small block but no more than that. I'm really not sure why children should need much more to occupy them
