This beautifully proportioned box I found filled with vintage matchbooks and a few newspaper clippings

This one does not bear a patent mark that I can see and I think may not be quite that old

Not as frequent a subject as a seal or a bird or a figure

Antique Tole Painted Foo Dog Box for "Future Prosperity" turkey I believe the drawings shouldHow could I resist the hand painted golden foo dog on the lid of this old tin box, promising future prosperity? Perhaps used as a snuff box, perhaps for something else, now useful for all sorts of little things. Late 19th century or so I believe, and though the lettering of "prosperity" is pretty faint, the dog is very radiant gold! 3 1 4 x 2 1 2 x 11 16 and in good condition, tin opens easily and closes tight.
