The 2012 Pavillon Rouge is soft

It was a most unusual year that was cold and rainy and allowed for no irrigation

It’s certainly very superior and the acidity is extremely well masked

Otherwise there is excellent volume and mid-palate density supporting the discreetly mineral-inflected flavors that exhibit a noticeably dry but not really bitter finish where the wood reemerges

A much cooler though still ripe nose reflects pure, airy and elegant notes of oyster shell, quinine, pear and tidal pool. The rich, generous and refined medium bodied flavors are shaped by lemon tinged acidity on the agreeably dry youthfully austere finale. This quality effort should amply reward mid term cellaring.
