Brisk and tightly wound
A deeply intriguing wine
Better to keep it in the cellar for at least a couple of years
Though slightly austere at first
Morey Coffinet, Chassagne Montrachet Clos Saint Jean Rouge Vintage:1999 Brisk and tightly wound(from vines planted in 1979). Much better than the Morgeot. Lots of cherry and pinot sap, good intensity, better structure plus a real sense of flavor precision and better detail on the finish. This too will drink well early and shows excellent finesse for Chassagne. Only a lack of density prevents this from scoring higher.
