The interior is a deep red gold-flecked lacquer which I believe is called nashiji

There is one tiny spot on the surface of one loop on the rim--very minor

blue and yellow

N Soule (or similar), who lived at 911 16th Street somewhere, perhaps in southern Maine, where I found it, but I'm not sure. She certainly had skills, and I think it's a terrific, quite transportive little painting, with this dog protagonist placed in quite the enviable spot it's a dog's world! Really nice. 8" x 6 1 4" and in great condition. There is a small bump to the bottom right
