The tube lets you connect your tripod's hook, but the plate can be installed without the extension tube & hook with the addition of a 3 8" nut (not included). Fits G1320, G1326, G1327, G3330, G3530, G3540 3540L tripods, as well as G3531, G3541, and G3541L models
