Two women in elaborate costumes and large hats; one picks flowers, perhaps a metaphor for sex. The other looks sidelong at her in a knowing way. Bagnigge Wells was a popular spa which thrived from 1760 to the end of the eighteenth century and had a reputation for 'loose women and boys whose morals are depraved'.
