which swivels 360 degrees

the bowl itself measures 4 1/4" in diameter and 1 3/4" tall

Perhaps it was purchased, or given as a gift to a fellow student or teacher of the artists at the Technic Institute in Nairobi the address of which is noted on reverse who brought it back to the states. I have no idea, but what a portrait! Drawn in pencil along the top edge of the painting one can just make out Kikuyu
