Portrait of Isaac Newton (1642-1727) mb-width 4569 II' and with figure numbersOval head and shoulders portrait of Newton above a pedestal decorated with laurel, a lamp, books and instruments. A pyramid structure is visible behind and below Newton a classical scene [two muses?] within a circular frame. Lower left, 'J. Houbraken sculpsit.' Isaac Newton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1672, he served as its President from 1703 to 1727. Original: engraving. ca. 1740s
