I had not seen another example of one of these when I found this--it is a brass tobacco (or tinder) box

This very phallic looking one bears a reddish stain

Faces are in excellent condition

this one I feel quite sure done by a teacher because of its fineness

Mid 19th Century wooden saddle I had not seen anotherAs I too often am sorry to say, photos do no justice at all to these blocks, which have an old light varnish finish over top, so are hard to shoot details give a somewhat better sense, and there is a whole lot of charm in the details here! Terrific imagery, terrific words, with the face of each handmade block a hand colored print, I think likely paper cut from an early children's picture alphabet book then mounted to the hand cut wooden blocks. (I can
