these I believe were carved of walnut and made to use as vesta (match holders)

and I think altogether achieves a perfect balance of softness

68 Inch String of Vintage Wooden Beads sewing basket I've had a few ofI found this long string of chunky wooden beads hanging down from a nail against a white wall and it looked so beautiful. And elegant, and festive, too. I think I'd hang it in exactly the same way. A perfect dose of color. Approx 68 long (@34 drop as hung), 1 1 8 wide and deep. Vintage wooden beads strung on a purple string. Excellent condition, just the right amount of wear. I'd guess 1960s 70s or so on the beads.
