The Pig that Pays the Rint Finish:10-pack St Christopher-le-Stocks was demolished in'The Pig that Pays the Rint', 1877. An alcoholic working class man is shown slumped against a lamppost outside an ale house. From the Chancellor's point of view, this is an excellent source of income into the government coffers, despite the personal and social implications of the evils of alcohol. From Punch, or the London Charivari, December 1, 1877.
