I purchased the piece from the estate of a dancer/choreographer in Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood
Pair of 1930s Cockcroft Hand-painted Floral Plates: Two Lilies small lidded box presumably the parentI knew nothing of Cockcroft plates when I found these, I just thought they were lovely and beautifully done, clearly hand painted and also very cheerful! With a quick search I learned these were made by Edith Varian Cockcroft (American 1881 1962), and that her plates are quite a known and collected thing. These probably date to the 1930s or so, and Id guess were once two of a dinner set. I must say I like these two as much as anyothers Ive found
