Hanuman is a vanara, an ape like forest dweller, who hepls Rama in his struggle against the demon king Ravana. Here he is depicted about to leap across the sea to the island of Lanka during his search for Rama's wife, Sita, who was kidnapped by Ravana. From The Book of Myths by Amy Cruse, 1925.
