The Massacre of Peterloo, or Britons Strike Home thin trees 'The Covenanters''The Massacre of Peterloo, or Britons Strike Home', 1819 (1904). On 16th August 1819, soldiers of the 15th Hussars charging an unarmed crowd gathered on St Peter's Field in Manchester to hear speeches supporting parliamentary reform and the repeal of Corn Laws. 11 people were killed and between 400 and 700 wounded.
