Instituted in 1866. In bronze gilt with navy blue and white enamels, measuring 32 mm (w) x 66 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, chipping evident in the navy blue enamels on the anchor on both sides, original ribbon suspended from a traditional Spanish style horizontal hanger with pinback, very fine. Footnote: The Order of Naval Merit was established on August 3, 1866 by Queen Isabella II
