Germany, Third Reich. A Luftwaffe Issue Narvik Campaign Shield consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac 1864 to March 7(Luftwaffe Narvikschild). Instituted August 19th 1940. (1941 1943 issue). Constructed of silvered coupal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised propeller, anchor, and edelweiss, representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegmarine, and Gebirgsjger (Heer) respectively, topped by an inscription of NARVIK and a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed swastika, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with
