To his right is a clothed table upon which rest three books. Contemporary ink inscription: 'Oct. 3 1862 A Sedgwick'. Bearing an embossed stamp 'HILLS PHOTOGRAPHERS OXFORD'. Monogram initial verso. Adam Sedgwick was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1821. Original: albumen print. 1862
