A large fiddle pattern gravy or basting spoon, with a deep bowl and long handle, the obverse of the handle presents a delicately engraved J, marked on the reverse WRS denoting maker mark (William Rawlings Sobey, 1831 1852), Queen Victoria duty mark (1838 1890), Exeter city mark, and P date mark denoting 1851, the spoon measures 320mm (l) x 60mm (w), weighs 136. 5 grams, scratches and small dents in the bowl, a rare spoon from
