The German airship 'Hindenburg' blows up mb-height 1497 Circa 1969The German airship 'Hindenburg' blows up, Lakehurst, New Jersey, USA, 6 May 1937. The passenger airship 'Hindenburg' was destroyed when it caught fire while mooring. 13 passengers and 22 members of the crew were killed in the accident as well as one person on the ground. The disaster ended the era of airship travel.
