A Scarce 1840'S Canadian Rifles Shako Plate Auction Archive " Neither Darwin nor hisA Scarce 1840's Canadian Rifles Shako Plate Silver plated shako plate, Maz. HP 65, 85mm H x 65mm W, a wreath of maple leaves surrounding an oval tablet bearing the regimental designation CANADA RIFLES, in the oval voided centre a Brass overlaid beaver, all surmounted by a Victorian Crown, early plate, circa 1840 1870. The three lug fasteners are replaced by a single brooch pin. The Unit was made upof men from British Line regiments serving in Canada.
