Showing a profile view of Sir William Curtis, later Lord Mayor of London. He is wearing striped trousers, and a yellow waistcoat which covers a very large stomach. His red nose suggests over imbibing. In 1821 George IV stayed at his house in Ramsgate. The title could be a play on words, the cur (dog) being a derogatory description of Curtis.
