Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from a postwar replacement ribbon, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, the reverse bearing an inscription of ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE HEIMKEHR DES MEMELLANDES 22. MRZ 1939 (IN MEMORY OF THE HOMECOMING OF MEMELLAND 22 MARCH 1939), unmarked but demonstrating the
