Bavaria, State. A Civil Merit Medal, By Losch, C.1890 Auction Archive inscribed "De Dietsche Militie Zwarte(Zivilverdienstmedaille). Instituted on 31 December 1792. Type III. (1808 1918 Issue). A round, silver medal, the obverse presents the right facing bust of Maximilian Joseph, surrounded by the inscription MAXIMILIAN IOSEPH KNIG VON BAIERN, the maker mark under the neck section of the bust displays LOSCH, the reverse centre presents the five line inscription DEM VERDIENSTE UM FRST UND VATERLAND (THE MERIT OF PRINCE AND FATHERLAND), surrounded by a
