Constructed of magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing raised crossed swords and a plane, above a date of 1942, topped by an inscription of DEMJANSK and a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, affixed to a magnetic metal backplate with a field grey wool backer, unmarked, the shield measuring 50. 70 mm (w) x 92. 48 mm (h), with some oxidation evident, in overall better than very fine
