Desiderius Erasmus, Dutch author, scholar and humanist mb-artistname Alfred Charles Glyn Egerton the former apparently of aDesiderius Erasmus, Dutch author, scholar and humanist, (1893). Erasmus (1497 1543) was probably the greatest scholar of the northern Renaissance. A believer in the superiority of religious practices in earlier times, he was an advocate of reform of the Church.
