Prussia, Kingdom. A General Merit Medal Auction light surface markings(Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen). Instituted 18 January 1810 by Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1847 1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a monogram of Friedrich Wilhelm III topped by a royal crown, the reverse with an inscription of VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT (SERVICE TO THE STATE) inside of a laurel wreath, measuring 39. 27 mm, weighing 23. 1 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
