Portrait of Thomas Gale (1635-1702) Samuel Pepys Collected by Robert Mallet andHalf length portrait of Gale dressed in black ecclesiastical gown and white bands. Gale's body is angled to the viewer's left and he regards the viewer directly. He has long natural brown hair and a prominent mole on the left cheek. Thomas Gale was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1677. Original: oil on canvas, 762x635mm. ca. 1680
