Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from a bar with an original ribbon and horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised bust of Hans Beimler, circumscribed by name and dates 1895 1936, the reverse bearing a raised logo of the Spanish International Brigades, circumscribed by an inscription of KMPFER FR SPANIENS FREIHEIT 1936 1939 ("FIGHTER FOR SPAIN'S FREEDOM"),
