A round bronze medal; the obverse depicting the leftward facing bust of Wilhelm Ernst, circumscribed by his name and title; the reverse inscribed DEM VERDIENSTE, 1914 (German For Merit) within an oak wreath; on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with a sword clasp; measuring 36. 14 mm in diameter; weighing 28. 3 grams; in overall very fine condition.
