Cartoons from 1929 1940 published in The New Yorker and other magazines. One of my favorite cartoonists, Gluyas Williams was a master of crowd scenes as well as closely observed mannerisms. Over the years, he had a number of running series, unusual by being based on a theme rather than a character. Some of the series in this collection:
