Constructed of a bronzed zink alloy, the obverse bearing a raised Stahlhelm overlaying a shovel and pickaxe, circumscribed by an inscription of DEM ARBEITER ZUR EHR, DER HEIMAT ZUR WEHR (TO THE WORKERS GOES THE HONOUR OF DEFENDING THE HOMELAND), the reverse bears a central inscription of PHILIPP HOLZMANN for the eponymous construction firm, topped by a date of 1938 and above an inscription of FREIBURG I B, measuring 36 mm
