Rhodes was a British businessman, mining magnate and politician in southern Africa, who served as Prime Minister from 1890 to 1896. Rhodes founded the southern African territory of Fhodesia (now Zimbabwe and Zambia). Rhodes also founded the diamond company De Beers when he was 18 and gained near complete domination of the world diamond market
