R. Collins and Barnes Wallis, all played a significant part in the development of the bouncing bomb. 'Upkeep' was used during Operation Chastise in May 1943. The raid was undertaken by 19 aircraft from 617 Squadron, considered a success, but with heavy losses of aircrew.
